Nokia today announced the launch of the premium-designed Nokia C7smartphone, optimized for social networking on-the-go, to the Canadian market through WIND Mobile.

“The Nokia C7 is a beautiful smartphone allowing consumers to access updates from their family and friends on Facebook and Twitter in just one touch,” said Richard White, General Manager, Nokia Canada. “Couple that with great apps and maps, and you have everything you need for a busy life on-the go.”

Stylish, smart design meets easy usability
The Nokia C7 is perfect for the design-conscious social networker.  People can stay close to those who matter most thanks to the live feed on the device’s homescreen.  Consumers can save their family and friends’ pictures to the C7’s homescreen, allowing one click access to their latest Facebook and Twitter posts, emails, text messages and phone calls. In addition, they can access personal emails and sign in to up to four instant messaging communities at once (such as Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and Windows Live Messenger) so there’s no excuse for being out of touch. What’s more, multiple homescreens offer a personalized and customizable mobile experience, allowing you to organize your widgets and apps just the way you like.

Consumers can capture and share moments in HD thanks to the Nokia C7’s 8MP camera and HD video capabilities.  The Nokia C7 is also enhanced with 10x digital zoom and 8 GB of built in memory.  With its stainless steel casing, 3.5 inch AMOLED touchscreen protected by ultrathin, damage-resistant Gorilla Glass, the full-touch Nokia C7 is a sleek and stylish device to keep Canadians in touch and up-to-date.

The Nokia C7 proves that beauty is not only skin deep, with recyclable metals, glass and resins that are free of toxic coatings; and like all Nokia products, it is entirely free of PVC, brominated and chlorinated compounds, mercury, arsenic and antimony trioxide. A micro USB charger with less than 0.03 W of no-load demand, an ambient light sensor, a power save mode and an “unplug charger” reminder work together to reduce unnecessary energy usage. Nokia C7 is also the world’s first mobile device featuring 100% bio paints.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Nokia C7 smartphone exclusive to WIND Mobile in Canada,” said Scott Campbell, Chief Marketing Officer, WIND Mobile. “From the beginning we have been committed to offering our consumers the latest devices that offer accessibility and connectivity. This HD voice-enabled device is designed for the modern-day social networker. Our customers will enjoy all the benefits of the Nokia C7 on WIND Mobile’s 3G+ network.”

The Nokia C7 comes equipped with the most updated version of Ovi Maps, a free* global navigation system with maps covering 80 countries in 46 languages.  Canadians can use either the voice-guided turn-by-turn Drive or Walk navigation to easily get from A to B and with over 7,500 3D landmarks and free* premium content like Lonely Planet guides and Tripadvisor, they won’t miss anything along the way.  New features include improved search engines and WiFi positioning, a drive assistance mode that provides real-time traffic updates, maps of transit lines including Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, and the ability to upload reviews and photos of places you’ve been and share them with other Ovi users.

Canadians can also visit the Ovi Store to discover new apps, games and themes to customize their device. Each week, Ovi Store continues to grow and add more great content that supports more than 30 languages in more than 180 countries.  Currently, Ovi Store sees more than 4 million downloads worldwide per day, including popular apps and games like Angry Birds, Skype and Galaxy on Fire.

The Nokia C7 also has a range of accessories to support the car navigation experience, extended battery life and headsets, such as the BH-505 Nokia Bluetooth stereo headset and the MD-11 Nokia mini speaker.

The Nokia C7 is available in stores as of March 18th for $350 or as low as $200 on the WIND tab in WIND Mobile stores.

Following the release of this sleek device, Nokia will be running a special promotion. Starting on March 31, 2011, when customers buy a Nokia C7, they will receive more than $100 in free accessories, including a Nokia DC-11 mobile power pack and three silicone covers. They will also be able to enter to win a trip to a destination of their choice. Visit www.gowithnokia.ca on March 31 for full details.
