Of all the 7" inch tablets we've used, the BlackBerry PlayBook is the one we're most confident using without a case. The rugged rubber rear case, all around solid construction and grippy squarish design makes it possible to carry the PlayBook easily but after a while you do look for a functional case that's also protective.
For users who foresee taking their PlayBook everywhere with them, the BlackBerry Convertible Case ($50.00) provides great all-around protection and functionality. Designed specifically for the PlayBook, it compbines tough molded rubber which completely surrounds the PlayBook yet offers access to all its ports and the rear camera.
When closed, the BlackBerry Convertible Case looks no bigger than a pocketbook and the details, such as the BlackBerry Logo on the side and on the front are so subtle one can easily mistake it for being an eBook reader. In terms of function, the Convertible Case can be used to prop-up the PlayBook in various angles for viewing video, checking out websites or for to turn the device into a digital photo frame, clock or news-streaming screen saver. For users who will be using an external keyboard, this is the best solution out there right now.
This isn't just the most practical case we've seen for the BlackBerry PlayBook but one of the the best made cases we've seen for any tablet, period. A great mix of understated elegance, protection and functionality makes the BlackBerry Convertible Case a must have for devices that will hit the road and be expected to perform on the go.
