Looks like the Samsung Galaxy Note's days as the sole smartphone and tablet hybrid are numbered. LG's 5-inch Optimus Vu was revealed recently and looks like a strong contender for the plus-sized mobile handset segment. The stylus-toting Optimus Vu will have a 5-inch IPS LCD display and an unusual 4x3 aspect ratio screen filled out by a lavish 1024x768 resolution.

What's more is that the LG Optimus Vu will be powered by a 1.5GHz dual core CPU, 8MP camera, 1.3 MP front facing camera, LTE, 2080mAh battery. The phone's dimensions are 139.6 x 90.4 x 8.5mm.

The LG Optimus Vu will run smartphone flavoured Android 2.3 until that elusive rascal 'Ice Cream Sandwich' finally makes its appearance. But please, if this one's also over $500, we're not interested.
