UK-based Ozmundo today introduces DueTrak Task Management 1.0, its brand new productivity app developed for iPhone and iPad devices. DueTrak takes a simple and stylish approach to managing a todo list. Sci-fi fans may well recognise the look and feel of the app as being reminiscent of a long running TV series. Items are sorted by urgency first, with 1 being the most urgent, and importance second. The app uses Apple's iCloud service to synchronise your lists between various iOS devices.

Independent developer Oz Warren, otherwise known as Ozmundo, today is pleased to announce the release of his latest iPhone/iPad app, DueTrak. DueTrak takes a simple, stylish approach to the process of managing your list of things to do by challenging you to decide only two things:

How urgent is the task?

How important to the task?

Urgency is of course a measure of how time-critical any item on the list is. You may have just run out of milk and that might not be not very important in the scheme of things, but it may be urgent if you need your fix of coffee right now. By the same token, one of your most important tasks might be to complete your tax return, but your deadline might be three weeks away. Items are sorted by urgency first (with 1 being the most urgent) and importance second.

The most urgent items float to the top of the list and appear as a count on the app icon. It sounds ridiculously straightforward and it is, but many other todo apps add layers of categories and tags that can distract and take you away from the simple decision about what to do next. If you have tasks that need to be complete by a particular deadline, DueTrak also allows you to set reminders for those items, by using your calendar to add alerts.

The app uses Apple's iCloud service to synchronise your lists between various iOS devices so that if you enter a task on your iPhone, it will magically appear on any other devices that use the same iCloud account. iCloud is proving to be a useful service (unlike MobileMe some may argue) and will no doubt see more and more apps taking advantage of its seamless linking of data.

One last thing that may make you want to try this app, especially if you are of a geeky persuasion is its similarity to the console displays on certain well known and long running sci-fi franchise. No naming names here, but be prepared to rush off at warp 9. Engage.
