Users of Picasa on Mac computers now have access to auto backup feature of photos for Google+. It works much like the Apple iCloud but is generally a free service. It automatically allows you to sync photos up to 2048px without taking up any space on your Google Drive account. If you go beyond that, that’s when it starts affecting your cloud storage space. But since were not picky, 2048px is plenty big.

If you want to use this service, you would have to download Picasa though (even if the feature really isn’t connected with the program). But that minor inconvenience gives you free online space for photo backups. That in itself should be worth the tiny download.
