In an inevitable move, search giant Google has indicated its desire to enter into the commercial retail store space by opening its first store in the UK last year.

A move that many see as the beginning of a series of Google Store openings in the US and Europe. A lot has changed in the past few years and Google now sells a variety of devices such as its Nexus smartphones and tablets, various Chromebook models and even the Chromebox PC and even Nexus Q audio devices. Google is also working on its smart glasses initiative. 9to5Google explains that Google will open a series of stores by the end of 2013 (it is already testing the concept in a fee UK locations called Chromezone stores).

The retail store strategy has been key in rival Apple's success. So much so that Microsoft, Sony and more recently Samsung have pushed for similar store experiences in malls and high traffic areas. It will be interesting to see how Google's approach will differ and whether it will carry a gamut of Android-powered devices or just its Nexus branded smartphones and tablets.
