RDIO is teaming up with Shazam, the sound search and discovery tool, to make music more social. Now you can find out the name of your favourite new tune and listen instantly on Rdio through Shazam.

Users of the Free and Encore version of the Shazam App for iOS and Android are now able to instantly listen to entire songs after tagging them by clicking the “Listen Free on Rdio” link within the app. The exclusive partnership which started in the fall of 2012 in the U.S. is now live in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and Mexico.

“Working together in six major countries across the globe, we are now providing more than 120 million users of the free version of Shazam the ability to instantly listen to an entire song they just identified exclusively on Rdio,” said Jason Titus, CTO of Shazam. “The combination of Rdio and Shazam gives music lovers the fastest tagging service and a groundbreaking digital music service so they can identify, save, and organize their music discoveries.

“Rdio’s partnership with Shazam closes the loop between discovering a song and being able to hear it again and again," said Drew Larner, CEO of Rdio. “In one click, you can go from tagging a song on Shazam to playing it on Rdio, sharing it with friends, or discovering more music by that artist. Together, we’ve built a seamless experience to capture music in the moment and incorporate it into your life."

RDIO announced they've hit 20 million songs on Rdio. 2 million more songs from around the globe for you to discover and share with your music community. This is a major benchmark for a streaming service
