When I was first introduced to eBay as a precocious 'hustling' teen, I was intrigued by the business going on online and off. The ability to create an online alias offered a world of possibilities, allowing me to tell people what they wanted and when; but also left me vulnerable to the dangers that lurk in the shadows of online buying.
Needless to say, that was a long time ago.
Since those days, eBay has come full-circle. Not only do they offer buyer protection against fraud and launched two new campaigns (My Mix and Feed) aimed at making online shopping fun and enjoyable.
What Feed does is allow you to create your own personal "feed" off products that interest you. Similar to the idea of Google+, you're able to create your own channels of interest, take eBay-created ones, or of course, follow someone else's. As you can see from the above screenshot of the feed made for me, eBay wasn't far off with realizing where my interests lay!
This time around, shopping-wise, I wasn't looking for a cell phone accessory or device, I was actually looking to replace my recently lost wallet. Given the mass amount of online ad buys Australian-based Bell Roy has been investing in lately, I figured why not give them a shot and try out their "Note Sleeve Tan Wallet" - the one they rant and rave about.
Rather than going the normal route of "bidding" and equipped with a $100 gift certificate (stay tuned, we have one up for grabs too!) I confidently selected the "buy now" tab and was on my way. The rest of the payment process was uber-seamless and re-instilled my confidence in the way eBay does retail in the online space.
This experience, combined with my newly-created "Feed", have me constantly logging into eBay to follow deals and possibly sell a few things of my own again.
