First, they bundled the Touch and Type Cover with every new tablet sold, then they started pummeling the iPad in various TV spots, now it looks like Microsoft is hoping that a $150 price reduction will make the Surface RT tablet more enticing to consumers.
A weekly promotional ad from Staples has the 32GB Surface RT selling at $349 sans keyboard. This is $150 discount which will likely ripple to other retailers and quite possibly in Canada as well.
Not only does this cheaper price make the Surface look like a better deal than the iPad, but also prices it aggressively against other Windows 8 tablets. Is this price drop a result of the recent restructuring news from Microsoft or a bid to help push tablet sales before releasing updated versions? Hard to tell at this point.
