I've had this device for less than 48-hours and have had a slew of people (facebook, Twitter, and in person) notice and ask me how it is. So, before we post our in-depth review, I figured I would put up my first impressions as well as a few shots to help our readers grasp why this device matters.
At 3.1-inches and 720x720 pixels, the screen pops for a device marketed towards the mid-level consumer. The dual-core processor allows the Q5 to be fluid and responsive when running BlackBerry OS 10, and the 8GB of internal storage is ample for saving a dozen pictures taken on its 5-MP camera.
As for the battery life, I haven't really had the chance to put the device through its paces (only had the device for 48-hours), so I don't think it's fair for me to be making comments on its performance.
As for the overall experience, I can honestly say the device really isn't that bad (considering it's not made or marketed for me). It feels solid and light and is very slim in the pocket, and performs as one would expect all tings considered.
I actually can appreciate what BlackBerry has done with the Q5 to ensure entry-level customers can get themselves into a BlackBerry 10 without breaking the bank buying a device they don't necessarily need (Q10 and Z10, respectively).
Launching for $350 outright with all major carriers (Virgin has the exclusive on red) the Q5 is sure to please those looking for an upgrade to their dying BlackBerry 7 devices, but don't want to pay the price for a Q10 or Z10.
