Colours are the key differentiator of the new iPhone 5c and Apple has decided to dive in head first to provide various cases to protect as well as serve as accent pieces to the shiny new plastic smartphones.  With the option of creating 30 fun possibilities in combination with the five iPhone 5s colours, we take a good look at this new accessory.

Made of silicone exterior with a microfiber interior to help secure and protect the iPhone 5c, the Apple 5c Case comes in Black, White, Pink, Green, Yellow, Blue. Like the iPhone 5c, the cases are coloured in rather unusual hues which makes them quite eye catching.

Aside from covering the rear and the sides of the iPhone 5c, there are 35 holes at the bottom of the case and these are there to show off the iPhone's colour under the case.

The result is an overall quirky and somewhat youthful effect that somewhat resembles the popular Crocs rubber footwear. The decision to use a case at all or fork out $35.00 for one of these Apple-made cases is totally subjective. Personally, I like the feel of the bare iPhone 5c's plastic exterior but I realize the need to protect it.

These silicone cases are easy to install and remove given that rubber is far more flexible than the precision-crafted iPhone 5s case

The iPhone 5c case covers the phone well but the placement of the holes on the rear can also introduce dust, pocket lint that could get trapped in between case and iPhone and possibly scratch the 5c's shiny surface. Also, the nature of silicone cases is that they're dust magnets and that might be an issue for some users.

Since these are the only cases available for the 5c right now, I think they're going to be popular, specially with the colour obsessed.
