Canon debuts the offspring of last year’s PowerShot N at CES 2014. The PowerShot N100 is designed with a host of new features to help shooting and sharing photos a bit easier. The new compact cam gives you more creative freedom with Creative Shot mode, which creates five different versions of one shot aside from the original and gives you access to over 46 filters to choose from.
The N100 also features a Hybrid Auto mode that takes videos a few seconds before you take photos and puts together the clips and photos into a movie of sorts. With Story Highlights feature, you can create a two- to five-minute highlight reel from photos and clips you selected or had the camera pick based on person, date, or event.
Also, Canon seems to have borrowed a Samsung smartphone feature with Dual Capture. This new feature lets you take a snap of the photographer and the subject simultaneously with the help of the secondary camera placed where the viewfinder usually is.
The 12-megapixel N100 also has Mobile Device Connect button to allow you to connect over Wi-Fi to an Android or iOS device. You can also use NFC to connect to Android devices. The camera is expected to carry a US$349.99 price tag with a May scheduled release date.
