There's a movement from iOS app developers to create visually stunning yet functional apps that closely adhere to iOS 7's 'flat' look and feel. I've long wanted a visual clock and alarm app on my iPhone to use when travelling and I found it in Red Clock app.
Offering users various customizable themes, Red Clock runs as a clock and alarm.
It clearly displays the time in your selected time zone as well as the weather.
As the developer explains it, " (Red Clock) is a simple, bright, desktop clock app that is meant to be easy to read with only the most essential of information present on the screen. It was recently significantly updated. It supposedly has the largest font of any app currently available in the App Store making it highly legible, even when half asleep."

At $0.99, Red Clock app is a great deal and one that has so many facets and customizations that it will always look fresh. I've relied on Red Clock app at work in my desk and on my night table enough to be shopping for a suitable stand or dock for my iPhone. I like the simple and intuitive touches, swipe down and the screen goes into night mode which adjusts the brightness for readability in low light conditions but then isn't too bright to grab your attention while you try and snooze.
iOS developers who are starting out should also check out the smart design and intuitive controls of Red Clock app, it is a great example of a modern smartphone app that is functional and delightful.
