Hyundai’s new electric vehicle, IONIQ, is set for a January 2016 unveil. But the carmaker isn’t waiting that long to show off the new ride. New renderings of the vehicle show off the interior and exterior of the car. Its design concept not straying far from the other sedans made by the Korean automaker—from the roofline, hood, to the body lines. According to Hyundai, aerodynamics played a big role in the IONIQ’s exterior build. Wind resistance needed to be reduced while efficiency had to be improved.
From the inside we get to see the dashboard of the IONIQ. The steering wheel has been faded out to show the instrument panel. Air vents flank either side of the dashboard as well as the infotainment touchscreen in the center. It has a minimalist, sleek look to it.
What sets it apart though is it’s a production-ready concept equipped with three electric drivetrain options: battery-electric, plug-in-gasoline electric hybrid, and gasoline-electric hybrid.
Aside from making its debut in Korea in January 2016, it will also make an appearance at the Geneva International Motor Show and the New York Auto Show.
