It seems Apple is jumping head first into the accessories game. First it launched the Smart Keyboard for the iPad Pro and now they've just announced an iPhone 6S Smart Battery Case. Similar in look and feel to many battery cases in the market, Apple's solution is designed from the ground up for use with the iPhone 6S.
The Smart Battery Case is easy to snap in and out thanks to an elastormer hinge. The interior protects is lined with microfiber which protects the iPhone's aluminum casing. Apple says the case does not impact cellular reception. More importantly, it integrates with the iPhone it is paired to and you can see the battery level right from Notification Center. Apple says the case is also smart in the way it charges. When plugged into a computer or 10W or 12W Charger, the phone and case charge simultaneously. The case comes in grey or white.
The iPhone 6s with the Smart Battery Case offers up to 25 hours of talk time, up to 20 hours of HD video playback and up to 18 hours of web browsing over LTE. iPhone Smart Battery Case is available in White and Charcoal Gray today in Apple Retail, online and through channel partners. It is compatible with both iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 and retails for $129 (CAD). Going into the holidays we think this will be a great gift idea.
