It's hard to believe that the premiere online and mobile mapping tool, Google Maps just celebrated its 10th anniversary. It was 2005 when Google Maps first went online and it has since become the de facto navigation tool for the web as well as for various mobile devices. Since then, innovation has been dramatic as Google intriduced global maps, Street View, various navigation options as well as indoor navigation and even maps of space, the ocean and previously uncharted areas.

Now, with Google Maps you can get directions on your mobile device in real-time, and actually peek inside of the places you are headed to before you get there.

There have been some truly memorable Canadian moments that were captured by Google Maps. Some of Canada’s most interesting, remote and inaccessible locations were brought to the world through Street View imagery. From polar bears in Churchill to the peak of Whistler to the Maid of the Mist at Niagara Falls to the interior of Massey Hall, plus an ongoing partnership with Parks Canada to capture our national parks, Google has trekked from coast to coast to share the beauty of Canada.
