It's official. Miles Morales will be taking over the daily duties of Spider-Man within the Marvel Universe. The multi-racial teenager was confirmed to be the titular superhero by the comic's writer and co-creator Brian Bendis. Bendis told the New York Daily News, "Our message has to be it's not Spider-Man with an asterisk, it's the real Spider-Man for kids of color, for adults of color, and everybody else. Morales became Spider-Man when Peter Parker died in the Ultimate series back in 2011. However, an adult Parker will still be making an appearance in the upcoming Spider-Man comics as a mentor of sorts for (laura Morales.
This continues Marvel's recent move to make their key superhero properties more inclusive. The new Thor is Jane Foster and the new Wolverine is Logan's clone X-23 (Laura Kinney).
