Another great step forward in automotive evolution, Tesla's first new vehicle in three years, the Model X, is an hour away from being released into the world. The Model X has been in the works for many years now and challenged by various delays. It is said that pre-orders are backed up into next year. The first few dozen models, called Signature Edition are already spoken for and cost upwards of US $130,000 a piece.

The Model X will have three rows of seating and lots of space, which sounds like your garden variety SUV. But being a Tesla, it does have some tricks up its sleeve. It has 'Falcon Wing doors" which are giant gullwing doors that swing upwards. Tesla Model X will have a minimum 250 miles of range with a 90kWh battery pack. Acceleration and performance is also off the charts with 0-60 mph expected at around 3.2 seconds (on the Ludicrous speed setting) which is supercar territory and a bit insane for a family car.

Tesla's pushing out a livestream of the event right now and it is running late.
