2016 might make the International CES seem more like the Car Electronics Show with various announcements coming from car manufacturers eager to show off their latest vehicles featuring cutting edge technologies, electric vehicles and autonomous driving features.
Ford has already made a big splash by backing both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality in its Ford Sync 3 powered vehicles coming to market this year. Aside from its own apps, 4G-LTE connectivity and new connectivity options, Sync 3 is compatible with either iOS or Android devices.
“Sync allows customers to bring the smartphone technology they’re comfortable with into a vehicle and use it without hassle,” said Don Butler, Ford executive director, Connected Vehicle and Services. “With SYNC, we move at our customers’ pace – making it easy for them to maintain a connected lifestyle no matter their choice of smartphone, apps or services inside and outside their vehicle.”
Sync 3 features all-new hardware and software for faster performance, more conversational voice recognition, a smartphone-like touch screen, and easier-to-understand graphical interface for a growing number of Ford vehicles in North America.
