In the highly competitive smartphone market how does one stand out from the rest? Alcatel introduces the Idol 4 this week and a few features are turning heads. This new model was featured last night at a Canadian launch event along side the brand's latest tablet, Pop 7.

The Idol 4's most noticeable new feature is the "Boom" button that offers the ability to boost up a function of choice. Located on the side of the device this gives users the flexibility to either enhance photos or music at a touch of the button. Want more bass or want more voice clarity on a phone call? This apparently will quickly offer that without having to fiddle around.

A few popular features carried over from the impressive Idol 3 includes the ability to mix your own music right on the device with the built-in Onetouch Music (teens seem to have a lot of fun with this). The device also includes dual 3.6-Watt speakers with Waves Audio technology. It also features a rotating screen - that adjusts to upright any way you grab the phone.

The new Idol 4 design is definitely more refined than previous models with an all glass body and full metallic frame and offers a 5.2 inch full HD display. Already having a quick play with the device's camera (13MP main camera +8MP Wide-Angle front camera) is impressive offering rich images and surprised me... especially for the shockingly low price point.

The Alcatel Idol 4 is available beginning September 30, 2016
