Of all the Android smartphone OEMs, LG is notorious for not having any continuity in its design or really investing into long term plans for their devices. Not only are they slow to update Android OS udpates on their mobile devices, each smartphone they release seems completely different from the one they released a year earlier.
The LG G3 looks nothing like the LG G4 (arguable their best smartphone) and the LG G5, well, that one shipped with the promise of modularity and expansion. LG professed that by investing in 'Friends' which were a reange of accessories that either connected into the LG G5 or had some sort of functional connection to the phone, users could have a range mobile devices and experiences. LG's is now backing down from their LG G5 vision and will not push modularity on their LG G6 which they says will focus on 'aesthetics and usability.'
Hopeefully LG can find a platform or a vision to stick to with the LG G6. Meanwhile, users of the LG G5 whp paid good money for the 'Friends' now have to ensure their device lasts a bit longer since it is the only one that will support all those accessories.
