Amazon.ca announced the launch of Amazon Cash, a new service that lets customers add cash to their Amazon Balance at more than 6,000 physical Canada Post locations around the country, with more partners being added regularly.

How does it work?

To use Amazon Cash, customers visit a participating store, show the cashier their Amazon Cash barcode to scan, and then pay the amount of money they want added to their Amazon Balance. The money is available within seconds using Payment Source processing and can be used to shop for millions of eligible physical products and digital content on Amazon.ca.

How much does it cost?

Amazon Cash is a free service for customers – there are no fees.

How does a customer get an Amazon Cash barcode?

To get an Amazon Cash barcode, customers can visit amazon.ca/cash on their smartphone or desktop browser, or search for “Amazon Cash” on the Amazon Mobile App and click “Get my barcode”. The Amazon Cash barcode can be easily stored on a mobile device for repeat use or printed at home.

Do I need a new Amazon Cash barcode each time I add Cash to my Amazon Account?

No. The same Amazon Cash barcode can be used every time you want to add cash to you Amazon Balance. For easy repeat use you can store your personal barcode on your mobile device.

Are there limits to how much I can add to my Amazon Balance using Amazon Cash?

Customers can add between $15 and $500 in a single Amazon Cash transaction. Daily limits also apply and may vary by retailer.

Where do funds appear within a customer’s account?

Once added, funds are available within seconds in the customer’s Amazon Gift Card Balance, and just like funds added through Amazon Gift Cards, Amazon Cash funds never expire.

Can customers pull out cash added using Amazon Cash?

No. Funds added through Amazon Cash are deposited to the customer’s Amazon Gift Card Balance and subject to Amazon Gift Card Terms and Conditions. However, the funds do not expire.
