A new version of Ulysses for iOS is slated for release on Thursday, November 23. With a revised interface, the award-winning writing app now fully complies with the all-screen design of Apple’s brand new iPhone X, and offers the most polished writing experience ever. The update is free for Ulysses subscribers. “We aimed to make Ulysses look great on iPhone X and fit in organically. To achieve that, we polished the app’s design on various ends and reworked a fair number of interactions. I believe everyone will enjoy the result, not just users of iPhone X”, says Marcus Fehn, the creative head of the company behind Ulysses. Beyond the changes induced by iPhone X, the new release.
brings redesigned editors for objects like images, annotations, notes and footnotes. The text counter has been tweaked based on user feedback, as has the automatic fullscreen mode.
With the new version, Ulysses also supports Face ID, the face recognition system on iPhone X. When enabled, writers can literally unlock their text libraries at a glance.
Finally, the app ships with a new default editor theme, featuring sparsely applied colors and bold black headlines. “The new default theme rounds up our new look on iOS. It’s simpler, cleaner, and more typographic.”, explains Fehn.
