The Merge Cube has been gaining popularily since it launched recently in the USA. Already winning several awards and accolades it's now landed in Canada. The Merge Cube uses augmented reality and virtual reality to bring our physical and digital worlds together. And it's incredible!

Through your mobile phone screen, you can play games and interact with learning and lifestyle apps designed to interact with the Merge Cube (iOS and GooglePlay). Many are family friendly. Holographic objects appear on a physical cube as it interacts wth your phone. With an additional VR goggles you can take it to the next level. The Merge VR Goggles are ideal as it's done in the same soft foam material and created with buttons built in to work with the Merge Cube. The site will tell you what the motion level is rated for those who are sensitive (like me) but honesty, I'm having fun without the Goggles already.

Initial set up of the cube and your phone is very simple and can be done within minutes. There's an activation code that comes with each Merge Cube. Users can go to www.MINIVERSE.io to find family-friendly apps. The apps and games are age rated as well. Merge Things (FREE) has a great collection of mini-games to start you off.  Piranha is a fun sushi eating game for points. Trippy Cube turns the entire cube into a cosmic dream like kaleidescope complete with music. Holo Body puts a human skull in your hands with labels. Slots game is a game of chance of winning, or losing. Launch into the Starflight and go on a soaring mission.

Aside from the Merge Things app, there are individual gaming and learning apps also available for the Merge Cube - free and some that are $$. DIG is a mining and building game kids will love. And it looks like there are many more to come. Mr. Body is a hands-on anatomy lesson where you can search each part of the body to get a closer view of vital organs.Take a virtual reality roller coaster experience or go inside the tomb of St. Peter at the Vatican or roam with the dinosaurs. Walk VR gives you a 360 degrees experience 94 stories above street level ...and on a high wire!

It wasn't easy to explain what this toy can do but being able to record the actions on our phone helped so we could share video clips with friends and family It's been fun for us to check this out what this can do. Check out the firepit - you can even stoke the fire for special effects! Even the teen is impressed!

Merge Cube is great for ages 10+ at $29.99 Cdn (msrp) VR Goggles sold separately. Available at bestbuy.ca , telus.com at amazon.ca
