Dyson opened its first Canadian Demo store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Toronto. The Toronto opening follows three in North America: Flagship New York on 5th Avenue, San Francisco and Virginia. Hair styling stations featuring the Dyson Supersonic and a Dyson air purifier smokebox demonstration represent some of the experiences that await guests at the new store.
The 2,000 sq. ft. space is designed to encourage people to pick up, test, and understand Dyson technology. Interactive demonstrations bring to life the science at the heart of Dyson machines, and Dyson Experts are on-hand to explain machines and provide recommendations that will best suit customers’ lifestyles.
“It is by picking up and experiencing Dyson products that you are able to understand why and how we use new technology to improve performance. The Dyson Demo encourages people to be hands-on. The Supersonic ™ salon introduces hair science to shoppers, many for the first time, and nowhere else can you choose between many types of dust and debris to test a vacuum cleaner.” Jake Dyson, Research and Development Director.
Dyson’s product portfolio has gone beyond bagless vacuums to include battery-enabled and autonomous vacuums, bladeless fans, air purifiers, humidifiers, lighting, hand dryers and, most recently, the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer — and all those machines are now exhibited and available in one place.
Hair dryers: Dyson Supersonic™ styling stations
It’s now easier than ever to experience the hair dryer that’s on everyone’s holiday wish list. An in-store salon offers complimentary styling appointments with the Dyson Supersonic™.
Since it launched last year, the hair dryer has received top awards and accolades. People love it because it’s light and comfortable to use, and dries their hair quickly. Meanwhile, thanks to technology that regulates the temperature, it helps prevent extreme heat damage and protect hair’s natural shine. It has also become a favourite among professionals — stylists and salons across the country use it as the hair dryer of their choice.
The latest version of the Dyson Supersonic™ — a matte black and purple machine — is now available exclusively at Dyson Demo stores and on dysoncanada.ca. It comes with a complimentary black case to store the machine. For those last-minute holiday shoppers: a complimentary bag or case can be selected with the purchase of any other Dyson Supersonic colourway.
Air purifiers: Filter the air we breathe
We filter the water we drink and we’re mindful of the food we put into our bodies; it’s important we pay similar mind to the air we breathe. Household products, such as air fresheners, and day-to-day activities, like cooking, release particles into the air and can contribute to poor indoor air quality — up to five times worse than outside[1].
Dyson purifiers are uniquely engineered to offer the three elements of good air purification: (1) efficient filtration to capture gases and 99.97% of pollutants in the air as small as 0.3 microns, (2) whole room air mixing to achieve even room cleaning, and (3) intelligent sensing so the machine responds to the environment. The latest version, the Dyson Pure Hot + Cool Link™, is a fan, heater and air purifier all in one, making it a great companion in your home or office, year-round.
In the Demo, a Dyson purifier sits in a glass box that can be filled with smoke. Visitors can watch the intelligent machine quickly and automatically clean the air, using its sensors to detect and remove the particles.
Cord-free vacuums: Clean up a variety of dust and debris
Visitors can test Dyson’s latest vacuum technology by pouring various types of dust and debris onto three different floor types and using the Dyson V8™ cord-free vacuum to quickly clean up the mess. Thanks to the Dyson digital motor V8, which spins at up to 110,000rpm, the Dyson V8TM cord-free vacuum provides powerful fade-free suction and weighs just 5.7 pounds.
There are several attachments and tools to try, using the machine as a stick and handheld. New owners can customize their machine by choosing the colour of the stick and purchasing additional attachments to suit their needs.
Lighting: Illuminating the Demos
All products in the Demo are illuminated by Dyson Lighting’s Cu-BeamTM suspended lights, which use a single high-power LED to project powerful light precisely where it’s needed. Thanks to their effective cooling system, which uses heat pipe technology to direct heat away from the LEDs prolonging their life, the lights stay bright for up to 180,000 hours. Designed by Jake Dyson and the Dyson Lighting team, the range of lights, which includes Dyson’s CSYS™ task lights, seeks to overcome the issues associated with fluorescent lighting and the overheating issues associated with LED technology.
