It was hard to find to begin with but now we really won't be able to see again. Nintendo has announced that it's discontinuing the NES Classic Edition. According to Nintendo's statement to IGN, “Throughout April, [Nintendo of America] territories will receive the last shipments of Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition systems for this year. We encourage anyone interested in obtaining this system to check with retail outlets regarding availability. We understand that it has been difficult for many consumers to find a system, and for that we apologize. We have paid close attention to consumer feedback, and we greatly appreciate the incredible level of consumer interest and support for this product.”

It wasn't supposed to be a long-term product for the company, a Nintendo representative told IGN. But they added extra shipments beyond their original plan because of high demand. Nintendo of America won't confirm if the announcement means the discontinuation of the NES Classic worldwide. They won't comment on the future of the Nintendo Classics brand, either.
