The original Blade Runner is my favourite science fiction movie. Like many, I felt that it was perfect and that the story was told and was complete (and left viewers debating if Deckard was also a replicant). The idea of a sequel, once more built around and ageing Harrison Ford felt like a money grab and just another way for movie studios profit from an old property.
The first teaser of Blade Runner 2049, with Ryan Gosling playing the lead, didn't set off any sparks for me, but the trailer which was just released today is very, very intriguing.
As a trailer, this really sets the mood for the movie, which arrives October 6, and gives us a glimpse of the characters and the familiar environments that made the original film such a beloved movie. From executive producer Ridley Scott and director Denis Villeneuve, #BladeRunner2049 stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana De Armas, MacKenzie Davis, Sylvia Hoeks, Lennie James, Carla Juri, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.
