Ask any mom (myself included) what we want for Mother's Day. We will tell you that we'd like to stay out of the kitchen (especially the cleaning up part) and we'd really just like some time to do something we enjoy like reading, sleeping in, doing something creative, watching movies, time to take care of ourselves without interruption by someone asking... "what's for lunch?" "Where are my soccer socks?" or "Is the laundry done yet?" We love you all... but seriously, just a few hours of peace is bliss for us.
So, when we asked some of our tech lovin' mommy friends what's on their wish lists it came as no surprise that their ideas tied right into our collective desire for "me time". Of course, the kids can shower us with all the hugs and kisses too!
Great gift suggestions worth noting...
Amber Mac (bestselling author, tech entrepreneur, media host and speaker) tells us this Mother's Day she's eyeing the Bellabeat Leaf Urban Silver wearable (but really pretty enough to wear as everyday jewellery). It's a sleep, activity and reproductive health monitor but it also helps you cope with stress with it's built in breathing exercises. Amber also has the Click and Grow Smart Garden that truly grows almost anything with zero effort. The indoor garden kit features "smart soil and built-in sensors to ensure growing plants get the optimal configuration of water, oxygen and nutrients to thrive. Great for herbs, flowers and veggies!
Stylish and unapologetic Rebel Mama, Nikita Stanley tells us she often jots down her thoughts into notebooks and then transfers them into her older laptop. Now that she (and her team) have successfully finished their Kickstarter campaign, they are gearing up to write the mutha of book for moms just like them. Nikita tells us each of them on the Rebel Mama team would love a new MacBook Pro -- not only because it's more powerful and faster than what they are working with now but they also love that it's lightweight -- perfect to take everywhere and anywhere.
Samantha Kemp-Jackson (aka @multiplemayhemmamma) President of Triple M Communications, parenting writer, and media personality tells us "In an ideal world, my kids will get me an iPhone 7 or 7+ for Mother's Day. One can dream right?" So, we thought of the (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition of the phone would be ideal for this on the go mom. Sam also has the Bose QuietComfort QC35 Wireless Headphones on her wishlist. "Anything that allows me to drown out the mayhem of my daily life and escape to another world is on my wish list. These Bose headphones would definitely do the job!" By the way, we love that you have the option to also customize these to truly make a great gift for mom!
Our favourite YummyMummy, Erica Ehm (publisher, CEO, Ehm & Co.) tells us she'd love a Mevo Camera. This live event camera offers up professional level production and allows you to edit shots in real-time on your iOS device with the app. What we love about this camera is its ability to intuitively do editing for you, if you choose. Videos can stream live on popular social sharing platforms including Livestream, Facebook, Periscope or Twitter. You can also save and share later.
Natalie Milne, Editor-in-Chief of the Savvymom Group has her eye on a new fitness tracker. We love the new FitBit Flex 2 tracker that has a slimmer profile and the gorgeous Tory Burch designer collection of stylish band options. A Kate Spade Wearable is also on the list with its pretty covers. Also on Natalie's list is a waterproof eReader like the new refreshed Kobo Aura H2O that's perfect for summer at the cottage or poolside. The new device allows booklovers to easily read in direct sunlight thanks to it's anti-glare E Ink display for a "print on paper" like reading experience. Bonus...you won't ever have to worry about it getting wet! The device is waterproofed.
When we asked Libby Roach (freelance food photographer and writer) an avid photographer and self professed "tech lover in the highest" about what she would love, she tells a Canon 5D mark IV EOS DSLR Camera tops her want list. "I've been shooting more video lately and need a new body to keep up. What else? She also is a fan of Nintendo so the new Nintendo Switch is high on her list! Libby also tells us she's been eyeing the Google Pixel for her next phone.
Happy home-baker and food blogger Carol Fraas (aka BakingZen) would love a Drop Kitchen Scale. It's a connected device that makes prepping easier -ever need to adjust a recipe to feed more people? It helps! Ideal for avid bakers and newbies alike -- also includes a recipe app. And she wouldn't mind a few new watch bands to freshen up for spring and summer for her Apple Watch.
As for me, I'd love to get a set of Apple AirPods. Although I currently have other wireless ear buds and headphones, I'm curious about how these will instantly turn on and automaticaly play as soon as they're in your ears. Activitating Siri and even adjusting the volume without having to pull out my phone sounds pretty neat. I'd also like the Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock as my current charging wire that comes with the watch is hanging everywhere.
