Following the announcement of the unreleased Star Fox 2 being bundled into the upcoming SNES Classic Edition, Western Nintendo fans have started to ask Nintendo to bring Mother 3 back, too. The game was released on Game Boy Advance in Japan and never made it out of the country. With the logic that Mother 3 was a completed game, it seems like a reasonable request from fans that the game be made available worldwide.

Star Fox 2 wasn’t released after consumer attitudes changed when the PlayStation was released. Meanwhile, sales of EarthBound back in the SNES days were so poor that it seemed Mother 3 was unmarketable outside of Japan. The Mother series though has been gaining awareness and reputation after its characters appeared in Super Smash Bros. games. We can’t say if the clamor for it is enough for Nintendo to consider releasing the game. But Nintendo has surprised us before so we hold out hope for it.
