It’s hard for companies to keep their upcoming product launches a secret in an age where the likes of Evan Blass (@evleaks) exist. This time, the VentureBeat reporter published what is expected to be the specs of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8. His source is someone who has been briefed about the device’s configuration. Samsung is launching the Galaxy Note 8 on August 23rd.
There aren’t that many surprises this time around as its specs toe the line of the current Samsung flagships, the Galaxy S8 and S8+. Almost identical in size to the S8+, the Note 8 will supposedly have a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It’ll run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor in the US and Exynos 8895 processor globally, get a memory boost at 6GB of RAM with 64GB expandable storage. As expected, battery is smaller at 3,300mAh but it still offers fast-charging via USB-C or wireless charging.
We see one of the big selling points of the device would be the dual rear-facing cameras with 12-megapixel sensors. It gets one wide-angle with f/1.7 aperture and dual-pixel focus and one telephoto lens with 2x zoom and f/2.4 aperture. Both offer optical image stabilization. The front shooter will be an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/1.7 aperture and autofocus.
Unfortunately, fingerprint sensor might retain its weird position. The colors it’ll come in reportedly include Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Orchid Grey, and Deep Sea Blue. Expected retail price is around €1,000 or around CA$1,500.
