Samsung seems to be dealing with some excess OLED panels as Apple reduces production of the iPhone X. The South Korean tech company ramped up its production of the panels because of the projected demand for Apple’s latest flagship. However, according to a report released by Nikkei Asian Review, “production of the iPhone X, whose sales have been sluggish, is expected to drop by half in the first 3 months of this year from the initial estimate of over 40 million units.” And now Samsung is said to be looking for other buyers but smartphone makers have been shying away from the tech because of its prohibitive price. Instead, they're opting to stick with LCDs at the moment. Also, Samsung is facing some tough competition from Chinese OLED panel makers. They are expanding their production capacity, which means they can pose a threat price-wise to the company.
