Dyson has leapfrogged vaccum technology with a new game-changing product that's set to make handheld vacuums replace corded vaccums. Dyson is so confident and all-in on its new handheld that it is effectively discountinuing its large corded and staning vacuum lines this year.
The product in question is the Dyson cyclone V10 cord-free vacuum. Replacing the highly regarded Dyson Cyclone V8, the new V10 is powered newdgital motor V10. While smaller in size than its predecessor, it has 20% more suction. This impressive new motor is capable spinning at up to 125,000 rpm and giving the new vacuum the most powerful suction of any cord-free stick machine.
“A strong performing machine starts with an efficient motor. The Dyson digital motor V10 is Dyson’s most advanced. It has enabled us to entirely change the format of a vacuum cleaner, and to achieve Dyson’s best ever cord-free machine performance. The Dyson Cyclone V10 vacuum is so light, so powerful, it can deep clean anywhere in your home, on any floor type. It is the reason I’ve stopped developing full-size vacuums," says James Dyson.
More design thinking went into the V10, it now has a more liniear design for easier handling and more direct suction. Even more welcom is a 'Point and shoot,' emptying mechanism which makes it easy to empty dust and debris.
Other notable features are an extended battery life, with around 60 minutes on a full charge. Thuis is sufficient for cleaning most apartments and homes. Since this is a cordless and lightweight vacuum, getting around and even cleaning higher areas is easier.
The machine offers two cleaner heads, one for hard floors and the other for carpets. Both have powerful motors located inside the brush bar. One removes large debris and fine dust from hard floors simultaneously using a larger roller covered in soft woven nylon and anti-static carbon fibre filaments.
First Impressions
I've been using the Dyson V10 Cordless exclusively in my home for around two weeks. I found it to be more than adequate for cleaning a large carpeted living room, sofas and chairs and also tile and linoleum flooring. I have two furry cats that shed substantial amounts of fur. The Dyson V10 Cordless handled all of this, plus dust and cat litter and even kibble without any issue with more battery power to spare.
The extensions and attachments were also helpful in cleaning tighter areas as well as ceiling fan blades. I've not had to take out my larger corded vacuum because the Dyson V10 cleans just as well as is easier to move around and is vastly easier to empty into the trash thanks to the new design.
The Dyson Cyclone V10 vacuum starts from $599.99 and is available at the Dyson Demo store in Toronto at Yorkdale Shopping Centre and on www.dysoncanada.ca starting March 6th. It will be available in retail starting mid-April. The machine includes a 2 year hassle-free warranty on parts and labour.
