A report from Bloomberg says that Microsoft is getting ready to release a more affordable Surface-branded tablet costing around US $400 by late 2018. Written by Mark Gurman, a prolific Apple leaker who has a good track record and accurate sources, this report shows Microsoft may be ready to capture a wider market segment with Surface.

As per Gurman's report, Microsoft is looking to sell a $400 Surface device with a 10-inch display and it will have rounded corners as well as an Intel chipset and USB-C Connectivity. Gurman goes on to say there will be a 64 GB and 128 GB and options for LTE cellular networks. Microsoft already has multiple lines of Surface devices, but these are premium devices that are better suited to professionals. A lower priced Surface can compete against the iPad which Apple re-introduced in March with Apple Pencil support.
