After Spider-Man actor Tom Holland “leaked” the title of the upcoming Spider-Man sequel, Sony just officially confirmed the news. The second film will indeed be called Spider-Man: Far from Home. Fans have already speculated about what the story could be after Holland showed in an Instagram video the supposed title page of the sequel’s script. Far From Home could literally mean Spidey being taken out of New York. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has confirmed in April that they are filming in London for the film. And that Spidey will still be spending some time in New York but some will also be spent in London and in “other parts of the globe.”
Far From Home will be the film kicking off the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But for those asking how Marvel is working around what happened to Holland’s character in Avengers: Infinity War are all just going to have to speculate from here on. The Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 directors the Russo Brothers have said people will have to get used to seeing a non-linear timeline following Avengers 4.
"Here's the thing, I think it's important to remember anything is possible in the MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe]," Anthony Russo said. "Just because there's a sequel on the books doesn't mean ... people become accustomed to time moving linearly in the MCU. That doesn't necessarily have to be the case. There's a lot of very inventive ways of where the story can go from here"
So, we just have to wait and see to see how this Spider-Man sequel fits into the story. Spider-Man: Far From Home will be coming to theatres starting July 5, 2019.
