The latest installment to the X-Men saga on screen continues with X-Men: Dark Phoenix which shows our favourite team of mutants faced off with one of their own. Jean Greay (Sophie Turner) may have only been introduced in X-Men : Age of Apocalypse where she served as the trump card that helped take down Oscar Isaac's uncomfortable super villain Apocalypse.
Fast-forward to the 90's, and it looks like the X-Men are set to re-live one of their most traumatic chapters in the Dark Phoenix Sage where Jean Grey goes completely mad and unleashes the destructive power of The Dark Phoenix.
At first glance, it looks like Dark Phonix is a remake of the most reviled X-Men movie of all time, X-Men : Last Stand. Many of the elements seem to be in place in this remix. The divided faction of X-Men. Magneto vs. Proferssor X and a body count of characters falling in Phoenix's wake. What's missing in this story?
The most popular X-Men character Wolverine (who played a critical love interest for Jean Grey and who was eventually tasked to set her free from the grasp of the Phoenix Force). This may very well be the last X-Men movie that features this cast so let's hope they can go out with a bang and not a whimper.
