Apple just released a significant update for its professional music production software, Logic Pro X. And it shows off exactly what the new Mac Pro can handle. It goes from support 255 stereo audio tracks, software instrument tracks, and aux channels to 1,000 each. The software also now supports 1,000 external MIDI tracks and allows 12 sends per channel strip. For average bedroom producers, the new threshold set might be too much, but as The Verge points out, those who work with dense, expansive composition like those needed for TV audio, video games, and orchestral scoring would need it.

The company is also showing off what the new Mac Pro can do. Apple claims this version is specifically optimized for the new Mac Pro, meaning it can handle much more complex tasks. One example the company gave is that Logic can now run up to five times the number of real-time plug-ins compared to the previous generation Mac Pro. But there are more features added to this software, which you can check out in this link. Logic X Pro retails for CA$279.99, but those who own a previous version can get the upgrade for free.
