LG and Montreal-based Element AI have partnered to work on different artificial intelligence-focused projects to make AI technology more accessible to everyday users. The companies have created a roadmap detailing the future of artificial intelligence.

I.P Park, the CTO and president of LG Electronics, and Jean-François Gagne, the CEO and co-founder of Element AI, introduced their version of the four elements of AI at the Consumer Electronics Show 2020 in Las Vegas.

The first level is called "efficiency," and the focus is on task-oriented tech like voice assistants.

The second level is "personalization," and the focus is on goal-oriented technology, which continuously learns to adapt to new situations.

The third level is "reasoning" with a focus on mission-based tech and the goal of determining why users do certain things.

And the last level is "exploration," which explores purpose-driven technology and formulates a hypothesis around a specific purpose and then goes out to test it. This final level is still far in the future.
