You know who has been releasing hardware at breakneck pace? Microsoft! The Redmond Giant's just come off launching its latest XBox Series X and XBox Series S next-gen consoles, the innovative and intriguing Surface Duo, and the Surface Hub 2S, and today it releases the smallest Surface Laptop as well as an updated ARM-powered Surface Pro X.

The Surface Go Laptop is the first ultraportable Surface Laptop and now joins the Laptop 13 and Laptop 15 models. "Starting at US$549.99, Surface Laptop Go delivers the perfect balance of style, performance and battery life in the lightest, most affordable Surface laptop yet. It has a beautiful 12.4-inch PixelSense touchscreen display, large precision trackpad and a full-size keyboard with 1.3mm key travel for an accurate and comfortable typing experience," Microsoft said in its blog.

Built for remote work and school,  Surface Laptop Go has a built-in 720p HD camera and Studio Mics so your colleagues and classmates can see and hear you clearly. Omnisonic Speakers and Dolby Audio surround you with amazing sound—whether on a video call, watching a movie, listening to music and more. To help you connect, there are both USB A and USB C ports, an audio jack and the Surface connector. The starting specs are rather meagre in this laptop with 4GB of RAM and 6GB of storage, it also comes with Windows 10 S Mode, which only uses Microsoft Store apps. This is clearly aimed at Chromebook users, students, and the educational market. Of course, there are higher-priced tiers with more respectable specs including a 16GB version available to commercial and educational buyers.

For anyone looking for a portable laptop that's got ggreat battery life as well as a touchscreen, the Surface Laptop Go is the most exciting device in this class since Apple's 12-inch Retina MacBook. Even more ultraportable is Microsofts Surface Pro X, the ARM-powered tablet-convertible that's also priced at the high end of the spectrum. Surface Pro X has an improved Microsoft SQ 2 processor – which they claim is the fastest processor in its class and a new platinum finish.
