If you're one of the Pixel 5 owners who is bothered by the gap between the screen and the body, unfortunately, that seems to be intentional. A community representative from Google posted on the official Pixel forums that the gaps are part of the Pixel 5's design.

"We've had a chance to investigate units from customers and, combined with our quality control data from the factory, we can confirm that the variation in the clearance between the body and the display is a normal part of the design of your Pixel 5," says the representative.

Android Authority points out the statement's strangeness, given that the same thread reports gaps in different places and sizes. And some don't even have a noticeable gap. That said, the same statement says the gap has "no effect on the water and dust resistance or functionality" of the Pixel 5. It's unclear, though, why the gap exists for some units in the first place, especially for a phone that's considered the company's flagship.
