Samsung has basically shown off its newest foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip, during a commercial it aired at this year's Oscars. While Samsung doesn't name the phone, it shows what the folding device looks like and teases what it can do. The ad shows the Galaxy Z Flip sitting on the phone at a 90-degree angle being used for video chats. In the commercial itself, The Verge reports that Samsung cautions: "You may notice a small crease in the center of the main screen, which is a natural characteristic of the screen." The ad shows the outside screen, which is in full colour and capable of being used for caller ID with sliders for accepting or rejecting a call.
This isn't the first time Samsung has done ads during the Oscars. But it is the first time it teased a device it hasn't launched yet. The company is bent on hyping its February 11 event, where the Galaxy Z Flip is expected to launch alongside three variants of the Galaxy S20 series.
