If you're worried about your children listening to songs they shouldn't, then you might want to try out the Spotify Kids app. The standalone music app for children launched in Canada, the US, and France on March 31. It's an ad-free app available for Spotify Premium Family subscribers and designed for children ages three and older.
It has 30% more content than when it first rolled out in beta in Ireland in October. There are now 8,000 songs and 125 playlists made specifically for kids. On top of that, there are over 60 hours of stories, including fairy tales, Disney Music Group stories, short tales, and classic stories.
Around 50% of the content is localized by the market, with some playlists programmed to "tap into cultural moments." For example, there's a COVID-19-related "Wash Your Hands" playlist, which Spotify describes as "a new global playlist with songs to help kids learn how to wash hands and cough/sneeze properly."
The app is still in beta, so there might be more features rolling out in the future. Spotify assures that it is listening to its users, and they intend to add more content as well as offer more ways for parents to get more control over the content, among other things.
