Samsung has been rumoured to be developing a Galaxy Fold Lite, which was also reportedly going to be called the Galaxy Fold Special Edition. Reports claim that this foldable device was expected to launch in July. But two different Korean news outlets report that it might not even launch this year and cheap might only be relative with other Galaxy Fold devices.
According to reports, Samsung still plans to launch the Galaxy Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip 5G in the second half of the year. But the so-called Galaxy Fold Lite will most likely come out in 2021.
The Lite variant will reportedly cost 1,000,000 won, which is roughly CA$1,140. It will still be lower than the Galaxy Fold's $2,599 and the Galaxy Z Flip's $1,819 price tags, but it is not cheap.
Samsung will supposedly keep the price down by putting in a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor without using 5G on the 5G-ready chipset. And it'll not have the ultra-thin glass seen in the Galaxy Z Flip.
At this point, though, these are still rumours, so things might change somewhere down the line, especially since the device's launch will reportedly be delayed.
