Huawei Canada has just announced which budding Canadian filmmakers won its first-ever Next-G video contest. Around 50 post-secondary students enrolled in select video production programs in Canada were invited to produce and shoot a short film recorded exclusively on the Huawei P40 Pro, which the company provided to the contestants. They were given 30 days to shoot and edit their submissions, telling a story of their choosing.
The four winners were:
Steve Liu, vice president of Public Affairs and Communications at Huawei, said in a statement that the contest was created to help "the next generation grow, develop, and acquire new skills. This contest embodies that commitment."
According to Huawei, Next-G refers to "e limitless possibilities that technology will offer to up-and-coming creators—through lightning-fast networks, advanced mobile devices, and state-of-the-art telecommunications equipment."
