Spotify takes out shuffle by default on Premium accounts (left), but it remains the same for Free accounts (right)

When you played albums on Spotify before, the streaming service had the shuffle feature on the large green play button enabled by default. But Adele didn't want that for her new album, "30," which is her first record after a six-year hiatus. She requested that they take out the option for her album, and Spotify granted the request, kind of.

On Saturday, she revealed on Twitter that her only request for the album, which debuted on Friday, was that Spotify takes out the shuffle option as the song order was necessary for her story.

"This was the only request I had in our ever changing industry! We don't create albums with so much care and thought into our track listing for no reason," Adele wrote. "Our art tells a story and our stories should be listened to as we intended. Thank you Spotify for listening."

And it looks like Spotify has enabled this for all albums and playlists but only for Premium users. These will no longer play on shuffle by default, but there's still the shuffle button accessible through the Now Playing View. According to a rep from Spotify's statement on Variety's story, users and artists have long requested this feature. We're not even sure we could call it a feature. The concession doesn't seem to extend to free users, though, as these accounts can only play albums on shuffle.
