Hardware isn't the only industry affected by COVID-19. Even the release of things like games is affected by this ongoing pandemic. Square Enix was initially supposed to share more information about the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI before this year ended. But the producer Naoki Yoshida shared a message on Twitter that both the announcement and release are getting postponed by at least half a year.

He cites "complications" from the ongoing pandemic as the reason for the delay. Square Enix allowed its partners to work from home, but that has apparently impacted the schedule. "This has unfortunately hampered communication from the Tokyo office, which, in turn, has led to delays in—or in extreme cases, cancellations of—asset deliveries from our outsource partners," Yoshida wrote.

Now, the plan for this game will be a reveal in the spring of 2022 and its release some time after that.
