Sony wants us to know that it's preparing a new virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 5, but don't expect it to come out this year. The company released a blog post sharing some details about what this refreshed VR headset will bring.

The company wants to give players an easier setup, with the headset having a self-contained tracking system similar to the Oculus Quest. As CNET pointed out, it might render the PlayStation camera unnecessary.

The new VR will come with new controllers that will adopt some of the DualSense controller's technology. We think it could involve the accessory's advanced vibrating haptics, which can add more realism to the device or its unique force feedback on the triggers.

The existing PSVR uses the DualShock 4 controller or the PlayStation Move, so it's definitely due an upgrade. Sony also plans to upgrade its display resolution. The current PSVR has a single 1080p display for its VR input.
