A report from Yonhap News in Korea initially said that LG was putting the production of its LG Rollable device on hold. But the company reached out to The Verge to say that this phone with a resizable screen will still be made.
"I can firmly deny that any such decision on future mobile products has been finalized," says an LG spokesperson.
The statement doesn't exactly reassure us that LG will release the device in 2021. But as The Verge pointed out, this statement could reflect the general uncertainty of developing new complicated tech during a global pandemic.
There might also be some truth to the report, though, given how LG firmly denied a story back in January that it planned to exit the smartphone business. But then it later admitted that it was considering leaving the industry. However, it hasn't finalized its decision yet. For now, though, we're not entirely saying goodbye to the prospect of the Rollable being released.
