Apple's high-end tablet gets a significant upgrade with a new processor, screen, and improved connectivity. One of the critical updates is the addition of the M1 chip to the iPad Pro, giving the tablet a 50% speed boost and battery performance improvement.
The iPad Pro is also the company's first tablet to get 5G support and the addition of a high-speed Thunderbolt port, which allows you to use higher-speed external storage and more advanced docks as well as get a better monitor connection.
Apple also brought its Liquid Retina XDR display to the 12.9-inch model, using the same tech as seen on Apple's premium XDR pro display. Its brightness peaks at 1,600 nits and offers a wider-than-ever colour spectrum and incredibly high contrast.
For those who spend a lot of time on video calls (which many of us do), Apple improved the front-facing camera on the iPad Pro. It's been repositioned from the portrait position to the landscape. The 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera gets a new "center stage" feature that ensures you are at the center of the camera's field of vision when you're on a video call, even if you move around. When someone else is in the frame, the iPad will zoom out to accommodate them.
The new iPad Pro comes in two sizes: 11 inches and 12.9-inches. The configuration goes up to 16GB of memory and 2TB of storage. The 11-inch model's price starts at $999, while the 12.9-inch option's price begins at $1,399. Pre-orders begin on April 30, with shipping expected to start in the second half of May.
