Apple showed some love to its streaming box the Apple TV at today's 4/20 Spring Loaded product showcase. Starting with an all new aluminum remote control, or as they call it, The Siri Remote, which features "the outer ring of the clickpad supports an intuitive circular gesture that turns it into a jog control — perfect for finding a scene in a movie or show. And with its one-piece aluminum design, the new Siri Remote fits more comfortably in a user’s hand."

The Apple TV 4K still looks like the unassuming black puck of years past, but it has beefed up internals including the A12 Bionic processor from the last generation of iPad Pros, and it now supports high frame rate HDR (High Dynamic Range) and Dolby Vision video, enabling fast-moving action at 60 frames per second (fps) to play more smoothly and appear more lifelike than ever before. The Apple TV 4K can work in tandem with the latest iPhones to get the best colour calibration for your TV based on ambient light.

The new Apple TV 4K will be available starting at $229 from apple.com, in the Apple Store app, and Apple Store locations. Apple TV 4K is also available through Apple Authorized Resellers and select pay TV providers. Apple is also selling the remote separately, which would make for an affordable but meaningful upgrade for older Apple TV 4K devices.
