A couple of weeks after OnePlus announced it will become OPPO's sub-brand, we learn that the brand's OxygenOS will be integrated with OPPO's ColorOS. According to OnePlus, they're "working on integrating the codebase of OxygenOS and ColorOS. The company says the change might not even be noticeable as they're happening behind the scenes. But the two brands decided it is best for them to "leverage shared resources" and standardize the software experience across their lineup.
OnePlus devices in China already run ColorOS, but OxygenOS will still be the operating system for phones sold internationally. All new devices OnePlus will release will run this new OxygenOS, while existing products will get the new platform via an over-the-air update.
Aside from this news, OnePlus also revealed it would extend its Android update support, similar to what rival Samsung does. The OnePlus 8 series and newer flagships will get three major Android updates and four years of security updates moving forward. While the Nord devices will get two major Android updates and three years of security updates. And the N10 and N100 will get a major Android update and three years of security updates.
